Four bands Five hours of non stop rocking blues was the venue last night at the King Street center for the performing arts on King Street Millbrook Ontario.
Baxter Creek Band started the night off with their traditional hard driving blues show that started the old church rocking on its foundation. Baxter Creek is a seven piece blues band that has a great following of loyal and true blues fans. With the newest additions of Theresa (Terry) Doherty and Brian Hitchlock on vocals fully completes the unique harmonies and main vocals. Larry Black, main vocals and drums along with Dave Picco on bass and back up vocals anchor the bottom end down solid.
Fred Clark provides a solid lead guitar and vocals along with his talk box and had people amazed by the sounds coming from the talk box he made. It was reminiscent of a Joe Walsh sound in their set closing number of Rocky Mountain way.
Johnny Baker (Harp and vocals) You really have to see this man in action. His harp sounds ads a dynamic dimension the Baxter Creek Band lineup.
Phil Douglas (Lead Guitar and backup vocals) sets the pace of the band with incredible lead guitar work people have described his style much to a cross between Beck, Hendrix,Collins,SRV and Buddy Guy.
Blind Dog George
Blind Dog George certainly lived up to the blues guys image. BDG provided a great set and continued to rock the place. If you get the chance to see them live don't miss it. I am sure they will be in the fore-front of bands to watch and follow.
EST11/15
This band is really focused and defiantly are a band to watch as they move up the ranks of a list of top bands to see. EST started out with hard driving songs and never let up. A real pleasure to watch.
This band is going somewhere and if you get the chance go see them in the Durham or anywhere they play. Do not miss them.
The Dammed Beavers
This band has a hard driving image of blues rock and are a band that will go a long way. Good solid tunes and the crowd loved it. It was a pleasure to watch these guys on stage.
Kudos to all the players who donated their time, Dan Shaer for donating the room, and the sound system for the Millbrook Blues Festival Community Food Share program and last but certainly not least Blind Dog George for organizing it.
